Directions to Dortmund

The conference venue (Harenberg City Center, HCC. Address: Königswall 21) and many hotels are within walking distance of the main train station Dortmund Hbf.

Arriving by train

The main train station Dortmund Hbf is served by long-distance (ICE/IC) and regional trains (S/RB/RE). Train schedules and fares as well as online ticketing can be found on Deutsche Bahn's website.

Arriving by plane

Dortmund can be reached most conveniently from Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS) as well as Dortmund Airport (DTM).

From Düsseldorf International Airport:

Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS) is served by all major airlines for European and intercontinental flights.

Cheap flights from Florence to Düsseldorf are offered by Air Berlin and TUIfly.

Trains run from the airport's train station to Dortmund main station every 30 minutes. Take regional trains RE1 or RE6. The travel time to Dortmund main station is 50 minutes. You have to purchase a train ticket at a ticket vending machine before boarding: A single trip ticket is € 12.00 (fare level Preisstufe D). Don't forget to invalidate your ticket using an orange ticket stamper usually located at the stairs to the train platform.

From Dortmund Airport

Dortmund Airport (DTM) is served by some budget airlines.

A shuttle bus (AirportExpress) connects Dortmund Airport with Dortmund main station. It runs once an hour. The single trip fare is € 6.50 and has to be paid to the bus driver.

From Frankfurt Rhein-Main Airport (FRA) or Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN)

Frankfurt is served by all major airlines for European and intercontinental flights.

There are hourly direct high-speed ICE train connections from Frankfurt Airport to Dortmund main station. The travel time is 2 hours 15 minutes and the single trip fare is roughly € 85. Check Deutsche Bahn's homepage for schedules and online booking.

Cologne/Bonn Airport is served by major and budget airlines.

The train trip from Cologne/Bonn Airport to Dortmund main station takes 1 hour 45 minutes. The single trip fare is € 20-30 depending on the train class. Check Deutsche Bahn's homepage for schedules and online booking.

Arriving by car

Dortmund is connected to the Autobahn system via Autobahns A1, A2, A40, A42, A44 and A45. The address of the conference venue is Königswall 21, Dortmund.
